Uganda earned the nickname “The Pearl of Africa” from Sir Winston Churchill, and this description still holds true today. Many people visit Uganda to see the endangered mountain gorillas and other wildlife such as elephants, lions, hippos, chimpanzees, zebras, and giraffes. The country’s landscape and climate make it a great destination for year-round tourism activities such as hiking, gorilla trekking, mountain climbing, whitewater rafting, and enjoying the nightlife in the cities. At the end of a tour in Uganda, it’s difficult to determine whether it’s the natural resources or the people that make it truly the pearl of Africa.
