We set off at 6:30 AM for our drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park along the way, we shall visit the drum makers and also stop at the Equator for a wonderful experience, and have a chance to stand in the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. Back in the van, we’ll drive to Igongo Cultural Centre where you will be taken through the museum to deeply understand the culture and folklore in this particular part of Uganda. After the museum walk, we’ll have lunch here and then stretch our last leg to this beautiful awaited park named after the Queen of England and be there in time for an evening game drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park is understandably Uganda’s most popular and most visited tourist destination. The park’s diverse ecosystems, which include sprawling Savannah, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands, make it the ideal habitat for the classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds. Meals: Breakfast /Lunch/Dinner
Start the day with a very early morning breakfast, get in your safari van and drive around the park to stand a chance of seeing herds of grazers breaking their fast and also may stand a chance to see the big cuts feasting on their early morning catches, you will also visit the famous Katwe salt lake. After a hot lunch at Mweya Lodge, you will embark on a boat cruise along the kazinga channel with lots of Hippos and Crocodiles slaying in the waters. The wide variety of birds like the Kingfisher, Pelicans, Fish eagles and many more combined with the great views during the cruise will brush off the exhaustion of the long drives in the park and keep your mind awake with fresh memories. Return to your accommodation after the boat cruise and rest for the rest of the evening or opt for an evening wildlife safari Meals: Breakfast /Lunch/Dinner
You have probably heard that Queen Elizabeth National Park is the base of the Tree Climbing lions. We will set off with a packed lunch on a search for these kings and queens of the jungle among other wildlife in the Ishasha sector as we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Meals: Breakfast /Lunch/Dinner
Embark on the trek which can vary in length and difficulty, depending on the location of the gorilla family you will visit. Spend one hour observing these beautiful and endangered creatures, a truly privileged experience. Trek back to the lodge with the rest of the day at leisure or opt to do a community walk around the park. It is important to be well prepared to trek – you never know if your total trek will be “short” or “long”. The total duration of the trek can vary and be anything between 3 & 9 hours in length depending on the location of the gorillas, who are constantly moving. Proper hiking attire must be worn – you will be trekking in a rainforest with lots of vegetation, undergrowth, nestles and normally a rather muddy terrain. You mainly walk where there are no paths apart from the occasional buffalo or elephant trails. After the trek, drive back to your lodge for a late lunch and probably a much-appreciated shower.
