Here are some great climbing destinations in each of the countries.

How fit should I be to go on Moontrail climbing adventures?

Some moon trail adventures require a higher level of physical fitness while others are easier and can be done by most people.

The hikes that take 1 or two days are often easier and you would easily do them with little to no training.

The adventures which go more than 3 days require some more fitness, endurance and preparation. This is because you will likely be gaining a lot of altitude and having longer hiking days – all of which require a bit of preparation.

You should know that these climbing adventures are planned well to go at an easier pace.

The toughest climb in all of Africa is summiting the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda to the snowcapped Margherita peak. Even this has been successfully done every year by people who are older than 70 years.

Can I add seeing mountain gorillas to Moontrail adventures

Yes!

While we have already made safari treks, you should know that your trip with Trekking Timmy can be customisable in any way possible to suit your wishes.

We can add any activity you want. It could be seeing gorillas, white water rafting on the Nile, Chimpanzee tracking, Wildlife viewing and much more.

What should I pack for a a climbing safari in East Africa?

Your packing list will depend on the exact details of your trek.

For the shorter treks, you will need basic hiking gear but longer trails need some specialised items like gaiters, walking poles and winter readiness clothing.

When you book a trek with us, we’ll provide the packing list that is ideal for your specific trek, its duration as well as your own wishes and considerations.

Will my moontrail safari be ethical and sustainable?

Yes.

Our safaris and treks are planned to be ethical and sustainable right from the start. We use lodges and hotels that are built with local sustainable materials, and the money we pay for activities goes directly to local communities.
