Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into a vast palm-dotted savannah. The park’s leading feature is marked by the Victoria Nile which squeezes through a 7-meter wide cleavage and plunges down through a 40-meter fall forming an amazing rainbow in the hotter hours of the day, with a stream that flows quietly across the rift valley into Lake Albert.
This stretch of the river, and the palm-dotted savannah, provide Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles; Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and Aquatic birds are permanent residents.
When you come to the Nile River in Uganda, you become part of the lineage of travellers from abroad who were drawn by the power and mystique of this legendary watercourse. Such is a quench for the adrenaline-rush junkies and an experience you will not draw satisfaction from in one day or night. Three days is a perfect deal.
