2 days Murchison Falls Experience

Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into a vast palm-dotted savannah. The park’s leading feature is marked by the Victoria Nile which squeezes through a 7-meter wide cleavage and plunges down through an approximately 45 meters long fall forming an amazing rainbow in the hotter hours of the day, with a stream that flows quietly across the rift valley into Lake Albert.

This stretch of the river, and the palm-dotted savannah, provides Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles; Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and Aquatic birds are permanent residents.

When you come to the Nile River in Uganda, you become part of the lineage of the travelers from abroad who were drawn by the power and mystique of this legendary watercourse. Such is a quench for the adrenaline-rush junkies and an experience you will not draw satisfaction from in one day or night. Two days is a perfect deal.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, via Great Lakes Museum

We set off from Kampala at 7 am. The drive to Bwindi is long but one of the most scenic in this part of the world. Our first stop is at the equator where you can take a bathroom break and stretch your feet between the northern and southern hemispheres of the globe.

From here we proceed to the Great Lakes Museum for a trip down cultural memory lane, then head into the misty hills of Bwindi for an experience unrivaled by anything you will ever see.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Gorilla tracking – Nature Walk

Today is the most awaited day. Gorilla Tracking is a once in a lifetime experience. Only 808 of these endangered species are alive today and 400 of them—more than half—live in Bwindi Impenetrable. The tracking is an adventure that can take anywhere between 1-9 hours.

You trek through some of the densest jungles in Africa looking for signs of their presence until you find them. Because park authorities are keen on protecting these gentle giants, you are allowed only one hour with the gorillas once you find them. Depending on the time you return to base, there is an option of taking a nature walk on one of the developed trails in the park.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Transfer to Kampala

We set off for Kampala after breakfast, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Western Uganda as we swap stories about the magnificent experience of this trip. Don’t hesitate to book another safari should you feel like going back.
