Queen Elizabeth National Park is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination. The park’s ecosystem which includes sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands make it the ideal habitat for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 bird species.
Set against the backdrop of the jagged Rwenzori Mountains, the park’s magnificent vistas include dozens of enormous craters carved dramatically into rolling green hills, panoramic views of the Kazinga channel with its banks lined with hippos, buffalos, elephants, and the endless Ishasha plains, whose fig trees hide lions ready to pounce on unsuspecting Uganda Kobs.
We set off in the morning at 6:30AM for our drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and along the way we shall visit the drum makers and also stop at the Equator for the wonderful experience, have a chance to stand in the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. Back in the van we’ll drive to Igongo Cultural Centre where you will be taken through the museum to deeply understand the culture and folklore in this particular part of Uganda.
